Surface Defects
Barrett-Jackson Signature Car Care is a complete line of products for the care of your car's paint finish. From time to time, the surface becomes damaged from bumps, scrapes and chemical damage. Signature Car Care will restore the surface finish back to its original showroom look.
Here's a list of common types of damage to the paint surface:
Light Scratches and Scuffs:
These are often caused by bush and tree branches scraping alongside the car or from paintwork scratches caused by keys or clothing buttons.
Swirl marks:
These are spiderweb-like circular fine lines that show up in bright sunlight. These marks are often more visible on metallic clearcoat, lacquered surfaces and are caused by automatic car wash brushes and general cleaning with dirty materials.
Holograms:
They are caused by bad polishing practices using a rotary machine polisher incorrectly.
Fading and Oxidation:
These occur when UV rays from the sun break down the surface shine over time and combine with airborne city pollution, causing a car's surface to appear cloudy and pale.
Bird Droppings and Tree Sap:
These substances can be very damaging if left. The acids in them eat away at the surface leaving a small patch of discolored paint or lacquer beneath. Treating quickly is essential.
Check first!
If you have a scratch and are not sure if is removable, run your fingernail across it. If your fingernail is stopped by the scratch this means you can reduce its appearance but you can't remove it with Barrett-Jackson or any other product. It will have to be dealt with by a bodyshop.
